Positive fashion: Maggie Marilyn introduces circularity-first wear-now-recycle-later basics

Here’s a very cool concept I can get on board with. Maggie Marilyn, known for its sustainable but high-priced designs is introducing a new lower-priced offer of direct-to-consumer elevated basics. Think boxy blazers, organic merino wool sweaters and the perfect white jean.

While the proportions and fabrics look great, the ‘Somewhere’ concept goes further. Marilyn will introduce a “take-back scheme” in 2021, allowing well-loved pieces to be sent back to be recycled into new ones. This circularity-first concept (similar to For Days) feels like a real shift in how we consume. (more…)

Another new L.A denim brand on the block. Despite being a denim buyer for Selfridges (which has a great denim buy), Gary Edgley – along with his wiife Louise – couldn’t find any jeans on the market that he liked, so did what seems to be the done thing these days in this situation, he started his own companySlvrlake Denim.

Slvrlake Denim has the kind of 80-90s cuts I like; straight leg silhouettes reminiscent of 501s, rather than skinny, stretch Y2K fits. (more…)

New name to know: Legres artisan boots

I had a DM chat with a Twitter buddy a few weeks ago, who sent me a photo of some extremely chic riding boots she was trying on in Matchesfashion. “What do you think?’ she asked. “OMG, where from? Buy them!” I insisted. I had no idea who Legres were then, but now I do.

It’s an anonymous ‘London-based collective that works with traditional Italian artisans to create timeless footwear staples’, according to the Matchesfashion blurb and it’s oh so very me! (more…)
