New nudes

The ss10 press days are all but over and I’m still processing the information (tip: it’s all about bumbags and summer skins – leather, suede and er, fur). But my favourite mini-trend was found at the Bally press day. Creative Director, Brian Atwood has based the collection around neutral make-up tones. Imagine a perfect glossy carmine red lipstick from the Armani counter, a creamy stroke of caramel-hued Nars foundation, the sleekest flick of Dior black liquid eyeliner and Chanel’s already-iconic-and-it’s-not-even-out-yet Particuliere nail polish. Translate that lot into silky trench jackets, suede paper-bag bootees and patent D’orsay peep-toe heels and you have the Bally collection pretty much nailed.

Equipment: The ultimate boyfriend shirt

There are boyfriend shirts and there are boyfriend shirts. On the one hand, you get the girl who throws on her boyfriend’s old Gap plaid shirt, half-tucked into her Current Elliots, with sleeves rolled up for Sunday afternoon slouching. On the other you have Carine Roitfeld.

The editor of French Vogue brings a whole new meaning to boyfriend shirt as she can literally wear her boyfriend’s shirts. Her boyfriend is Christian Restoin, the original creator of Equipment shirts (trademark style – loose cut, soft fabric, patch pockets) and soon we can wear Carine’s boyfriend’s shirts too as Equipment has now been relaunched for SS10.

Here’s a sneak peak of what to expect…

Equipment sheer blue leopard-print
Equipment shirts
Equipment workaday cotton stripes
Equipment shirts
Equipment day-to-night lace

What do we think…is Carine wearing an Equipment shirt here?*

*OFFICIAL: No, she isn’t!

ss10 trend report: Oasis

The SS10 press days are in full swing! I wasn’t partaking last week as I was fully engaged in a week-long project but I just managed to catch the end of the Oasis press day on Thursday evening. Oasis always put on a good show and this time we had hair make-overs from Charlie le Mindu, manicures by Butter LONDON and even a pop-up art bookshop. But the main event was the Oasis SS10 collection. My verdict? It’s all about the seventies…

Maxi tea dresses

Petal prints

Tromp l’oeil and graphic monochrome – this is part of Oasis’ Designer Collective range. The tromp l’oeil pieces are designed by BA Hons Design student Rosalind Keep.

New suede shoes

Sequins n studs

Easy Rider meets Woodstock – love the suede tunic

Book of charms by designer Vanessa Harrington is a beautiful idea, a hollowed-out book with a necklace and a choice of charms that would make a super-special gift. Selling price isn’t confirmed yet but the figure they gave me was unbelievably keen! (Double click for a closer look.)

Perfect workwear: the 7/8th trouser suit

I spy a spots versus Breton-stripes face-off

J’adore this African-inspired abstract animal print that comes in different clashy colourways.
