New in: Aw15 accessory edit

It’s that time of year when your eyes crave fashion newness but you don’t necessarily want to go down the full AW15 coat route (even though received wisdom says you should get your coat shopping done in July). The solution? A cheeky little accessory edit. I’m feeling & Other Stories’ chestnutty leather bag and these massive Clergerie clompy sandals paired with Marni’s plaid socks. Yes, I would probably break my neck in the Clergeries (and these Rachel Comey stompers – although kudos to Comey for adding the alpaca sole to help with sock grip) but just humour me for now. I also love the tactile curves of Marni’s ball jewellery along with & Other Stories’ stack of copper rings. I like the combination of something simple with something loud.

Coming soon: Trademark AW15

The Burch girls from Trademark are quietly building a solid brand, assembled around all my favourites – coats, knits and shirts. They arrived on the New York scene only a few seasons ago with their ‘modern preppie’ sweatshirts and considered accessories and have developed a strong signature that I guess is in keeping with the idea of American sportswear. That is, ‘sportswear’ in the traditional sense of everyday separates, as opposed to Lulu Lemon-esque ‘athleisure‘. (more…)

What to steal from the menswear shows: Marni ss16

The Marni colour palette is so on point – I mean, these blues and ochres! I will be stealing what I can from these colour combos as well as the loosely tucked-in tops (a big theme at Prada too) and the boxy shirt jackets. I really want a boxy leather shirt now… (more…)

What to steal from the menswear SS16 shows: satin bomber jackets

Satin bomber jackets are set to be the big commercial hit for next Spring if you take your cues from the Paris menswear runways. Saint Laurent’s are faithful to the classic souvenir jacket while Valentino’s are the most youthful in sunny yellow with Hawaiian florals. Louis Vuitton’s are a bit more special-looking (more…)
