Two of my greatest passions are coming together this weekend for a three-day love in.

The Shop at Bluebird (retail porn for aesthetes) and the Fashion Illustration Gallery are going large on last year’s Fashion Illustration Gallery Art Fair (FIGAF), extending it over 3 days at the King’s Road emporium.

Fashion illustration for the Instagram age

Oh how I’m loving the Instagram-fuelled return of fashion illustration that’s been percolating for the last year or so. Instagram is the perfect platform for illustrators, having an emotional, almost tactile pull that filtered-to-the-hilt photography generally doesn’t. It’s a craft that we love to try to get close to, so any indication of work-in-progress tools – brushes, marker pens, sketch books, paint palettes – adds an extra layer of appeal. (more…)
