If you’re in London for Frieze and need some zen time out from the frantic pace, here’s my tip. Go and chill at the Barbican.

The Noguchi show just opened two weeks ago at Barbican Centre and it’s a perfect stroll through the artist and designer’s timeline.

Isamu Noguchi was a sculptor and multidisciplinary designer, creating everything from theatre sets to kids’ playgrounds to furniture and of course, the now-classic Akari lighting. (more…)



On my radar: Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace

On my wish list: a new book about roller skating.

I remember reading about Flipper’s, the short-lived LA roller disco (owned by Liberty Ross’s dad) a few years ago. There was talk of a film and then… nothing. Instead, we have this great softback from Idea Books, “Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace” (launching October 15th), documenting the rink, the scene and the free-living era – accompanied by some fantastic pictures of course.
