Balenciaga launches ecommerce site: “It’s almost like a daily magazine now: it has to be really alive”



Ever since reading WWD’s article earlier in the week, I have been checking and rechecking the Balenciaga website. It has now relaunched. Working with Wednesday-London, Balenciaga has created a site that marries a high spec retail experience* with engaging brand history, including archive images and (soon to come) video. (more…)



The Fashion Illustration Gallery launches ecommerce site



The Fashion Illustration Gallery has launched its ecommerce site selling these quite wonderful (and reasonably-priced) works of art. As well as one-off illustrations and prints, there are rare vintage magazines featuring the brushstrokes of some of my favourite illustrators including Andy Warhol (above), Richard Bernstein and Christian Berard. On man bags, Mr Porter and fashion versus function



A while ago I read a statistic that stayed in my head. It predicted that sales of man bags (in the US) would increase by 23% by 2013. Well here you go, with the launch of Mr Porter, the menswear market has stepped up a gear and as with womenswear, accessories are looking to account for rather a large portion of market share. (more…)
