Rethinking a casual staple

I don’t know if life is one big algorithm now, but these hooded cagoules seem to be following me around online and IRL.

The seed was first planted last summer via a pinky-orange Loro Piana number in a Harper’s Bazaar editorial. So un-utilitarian, so unexpected, so cool! Then the eau de nil cocktail cagoule from Carven SS24 (below) captured our hearts with its audacious banana sleeves and heavy satin drape. 2023 hasn’t been a massive beauty product year for me. Since trialling Renude’s skincare advisory a while ago, I’ve stuck to a few regular trusted skincare products. Plus, I don’t get sent nearly as much PR stuff to try these days, which is something of a relief. On my radar: executive realness with a side of rodeo swagger. Niche I know, but I’m feeling the office cowboy vibes courtesy of Giedre Dukauskaite.

Maybe it’s the tension between corporate conformity and wild west rebellion. Whatever, I think the combination of power tailoring (I just copped this blazer), plus subtle saloon bar details – the belt*, the boot*, the shirt styling* – is one worth getting involved in. (more…)

COS red funnel neck sweater

Black Friday may be all anyone can talk about this week, but I’m over it already. I’m all about, er, Red Thursday.

To counter the unflattering November light, I’ve got my eye on this rustic red Babaà no61 jumper with its cropped balletic proportions (below) or the COS Campbell’s Soup red funnel neck jumper* (US link here*, above) – suitably slouchy to accommodate a HeatTech layer – or three. (more…)
