Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. GRINDR’S FASHION PIVOT

So Grindr is live streaming the J.W. Anderson AW16 menswear show this morning, which isn’t as weird as it sounds. According to the New York Times, Grindr is pivoting to embrace fashion, music and entertainment, not just gay guys looking for a hook-up. In short, Grindr is doing a Snapchat. Sounds like a sensible move. Read more here


2. DON’T TRY TO COPY CELINE’S LUGGAGE TOTE

Céline has just utilised the might of LVMH to protect one of its most famous designs. Vogue reports that the Céline Luggage Tote has been awarded legal copyright protection to deter rivals from copying the details of its best selling bag. Design copyright is a tricky thing to protect, but clearly, if anyone can do it, it’s LVMH. Read more here


3. MACKINTOSH REINVENTED

Mackintosh is shrugging off its raincoat roots with an outstanding move into ready-to-wear. There’s a new shop on Conduit Street selling both men’s and womenswear full ready-to-wear collections, and the AW16 menswear collection just had its big reveal at LC:M (above). Who’s the new creative director? There is none, it’s a team effort and a very good one…


4. WALES BONNER AT MATCHES

Grace Wales Bonner is one of the UK’s great fashion hopes for menswear but she’s proving a hit with women too. A capsule womenswear collection has just arrived at Matches Fashion, but I doubt it will stick around for long. Buy it here or shop the post below…
