Britain’s favourite contemporary fragrance house, Jo Malone has surpassed itself with a host of unfaultable (is that a word?) gifty treats. I’ve just become addicted to the unisex Pomegranate Noir cologne which is sweet and spicy but not heavy and works beautifully as an all day fragrance. (more…)



Valentino Garavani’s virtual museum



What a great idea the forthcoming Valentino online archive is. An idea that has also been touched on by Jasper Conran (read this insightful interview here from last year), the ‘virtual archive museum’ will display iconic couture and ready-to-wear wear pieces, as well as films (including 95 runway videos), sketches and photos that give a rich, visual insight to the brand. Retail concept: Your Samples Collective



How’s this for a new type of sample sale? YSC (Your Samples Collective) aims to ‘put the simple statement back into people’s wardrobe with good reductions and product that you can rely on’. Translation? Non-seasonal pieces that you’ll keep on wearing, such as their debut sample sale from Wrangler.

I try to avoid samples sales as I seem to be that person who gets far too carried away and then regrets the unworn purchases a few weeks later. But this one looks like quite a good concept, provided the product is right. The sale is on Friday and Saturday and all the info is below. I might see you there!
