Last November I had the bestevening at Me+Em’s Belgravia pop up, hosting a soiree to promote my book. I never feel that comfortable doing customer-facing events. I haven’t done many and I always feel a bit of a nana, but Me+Em have such lovely customers and it ended up being quite a hoot.
It was my first time getting properly intimate with the product. Me+Em sells mostly online so it’s not a brand I’ll find on my usual Liberty-Selfridges-The-Shop-At-Bluebird sweep. But I’ve seen it in PR showrooms and on other people and I knew it aligned with my tastes. I’d say it’s like a more affordable, less high fashion version of Joseph. (more…)
For all the fanfare around puffy jackets and duvet coats, it has to be said – they don’t suit everyone. I was reminded about this at the weekend at the sight of a diminutive soul in her blue Bacofoil number, hoisted slightly askew a la Vetements, but not really fooling anyone. No wonder then that the sensible stalwart, the trench coat, is more popular than ever, on and off the catwalk.
I met photographer Vanessa Jackman years ago when I was still an anonyblogger. We were on a bloggers’ press trip to Paris, along with Mademoiselle Robot, Claire Healy (now deputy editor at Dazed) and several others.
