Kristin Drab for Harper’s Bazaar October issue

Boo George Kristin Drab Harpers Bazaar October 24

This is my favourite autumn editorial so far. Very demure, very…oh never mind!

This is a shoot celebrating the classic gentlewoman tropes of Yves Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking. But I like the minimalist, dishevelled twist.

Photographer Boo George and stylist Cathy Kasterine make the dream team, showing polished blouses, slip dresses and tailoring by Ralph Lauren, Celine and Carven*, accessorised with sculptural Gucci cuffs* as weighty as the De Beers diamonds are delicate.

Glossy leather Miu Miu gloves* and Gucci‘s thigh-high riding boots* add another dimension of youthful nonchalance but the masterstroke is the casting of Kristin Drab with her visible roots, bleached brows and imperfect teeth. Yves would surely approve.

Caroline de Maigret does Marques’Almeida for Matches Fashion

Caroline-De-Maigret-Marques-Almeida

Er, hello Matchesfashion.com with your rather excellent (and free) The Style Report magazine! The retailer has stepped up its editorial considerably lately, not least with its current cover and feature on Caroline De Maigret.

Everyone’s current favourite French fancy, the interview is soooo good, she is charmingly blunt in the way that only Parisienne women seem to be able to get away with. And of course, she looks imperfectly-perfect in Boo George’s pictures (styled by Verity Parker). Here she is in Marques’Almeida (above), Preen and Isabel Marant… (more…)

Boo George for Toast AW12

So that’s it. Summer’s over and whether we get an Indian summer is highly debatable. Time to crack on with autumn then, and gorge on the new Toast catalogue. As always, the art direction, photography, casting and styling are spot on. Boo George’s photography has a dreamy, hazy, wholesome quality reminiscent of 80s French Connection catalogues when the locations were vast and lush. (more…)
