Beauty Buy: Bobbi Brown’s Pot Rouge now comes in a mirrored compact

Just in time for the first day of spring, a new launch from Bobbi Brown arrived in the weekend post. Personally packaged adorned with my own bunting (you know I’m a sucker for personalisation), the cult Pot Rouge has been reimagined in a small compact, complete with mirror. What a great example of a seemingly simple tweak making a huge difference. I’m a big fan of Pot Rouge in Calypso Coral; I use it every day, blending it on my cheeks with my fingers and dabbing whatever’s left onto the bridge of my nose. (You can use it on lips as well but I find it a bit too matte for that.)

As well as the existing six shades, four new ones have been added. I tried Rose which is more muted than Calypso Coral but still completely wearable, as is everything Bobbi Brown does. The press release touts the compact for ‘the festival season’ but really it’s just a brilliant, hard working product for wherever and whenever. Buy it now from Selfridges, £18.

Library corner: Heads: Hair by Guido

I had totally forgotten about this Guido Palau hair book from 2000. After I spotted it in the staff room at London College of Fashion a couple of weeks ago, I got straight on Amazon and ordered a copy. (more…)

Beauty buy: Karma Organic lavender nail polish remover

I would love to get my hands on this Karma Organic nail polish remover. I love lavender and I hate the synthetic smell of regular nail polish removers. It also comes in tea tree and unscented versions and was recommended by Kerry Diamond on Into The Gloss. Come on Cult Beauty, get some of this stuff in!

Guest post: How to be a Bruce Weber beauty by Kay Montano

A few weeks ago when make-up marvel Kay Montano launched her blog, we came up with a fun idea of doing a blog post swap. So I have written a post for her about my ‘beauty icons’ and most used products and she has returned the favour with this post on her favourite Bruce Weber shoots she has worked on (she has been doing make-up for him on and off since she was 17), plus the hero products she uses to achieve Weber’s signature natural, outdoorsy look.
