THE DRG STYLE INDEX: MOSCHINO, PETIT BATEAU, FRANCES VALENTINE, MIU MIU, KATHARINE HAMNETT

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. MOSCHINO SAYS ‘FANCY A FAG?’

Way ahead of the see-now-buy-now curve, Moschino has a knack of knowing which elements of its buzzworthy collections to release first. Landing today, its #Itslit AW16 capsule collection of cigarette-themed pieces hits the shop floor just four days after first being seen on the runway. I can’t lie, I think this ciggie-box shaped shoulder bag is utterly fabulous… (Buy it at Luisaviaroma and Selfridges or click the images above to shop.)

2. PETIT BATEAU X ANNELIE SCHUBERT

Petit Bateau Annelie Schubert collaboration
Diary date: circle 27th April, when Petit Bateau’s collaboration with French-German designer Annelie Schubert arrives in stores. Partnering with the Hyeres International Festival of Photography and Fashion for the third year, Petit Bateau presents Schubert’s capsule collection of deconstructed Breton-inspired pieces. I’m all about the drapes and tucks of this asymmetric dress…

3. FRANCES VALENTINE HAS LAUNCHED ECOMMERCE

Frances Valentine silver shopper
Frances Valentine has evolved quite a bit since I first mentioned it three weeks ago. The new brand from Kate Spade founders, Kate Valentine and Andy Spade now has an e-commerce site and Instagram account. The full complement of bags and shoes can now be seen on the site and very good they look too, displayed in a lively, editorial way. This Marni-esque mirror leather shopper is calling my name… Read more on Fashionista.

4. MIU MIU’S MIUSIC APP

Miu Miu launches Miu Miusic app
I love Miu Miu’s unpredictable approach to, well, everything. Its latest ruse is an app, but not a yawnsome fashion app. No, Miu Miu has launched a music app (called Miu Miusic of course), which lets you match pyschedelic visuals to personalise your choice of music. Download it here.

5. KAT’S BACK

Katharine Hamnett X YMC capsule collection
My Instagram went into a frenzy yesterday when I mentioned the news that Katharine Hamnett was oficially back in action. She’s not been far away actually, but now she’s properly back, with a collection coming in November. In the meantime, I’m loving this taster collection (above), in collaboration with YMC, presenting some choice reissues from her archive. The world totally needs more parachute silk military shirts
