Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…
1. THE SELF-WARMING COURRÈGES COAT
This is literally my dream coat. Classically tailored and infused with the type of tech that warms up car seats, Courrèges’ trio of clean-lined coats have a removable, rechargeable battery that lasts up to six hours. Read more on Qz.com
2. ROKSANDA ON YOUR WRIST
Did you know Roksanda was doing jewellery now? Think architectural cuffs (of the type that Diana Vreeland would clamp over a sweater sleeve) alongside earrings, necklaces and brooches, they’re available at Matchesfashion.com.
3. MEET ME AT THE MARNI FLOWER CAFÉ
It would seem no high-end brand is complete without an array of lifestyle brand extensions. Marni’s latest is its intriguing Marni Flower Café, now open in the Umeda Hankyu Department Store in Osaka. As well as Marni product and flowers, I’m loving the sound of the focaccia breads and juices that come Marni-fied in exclusive packaging. More Marni cafés are expected to roll out globally.
INSIDE THE DRIES VAN NOTEN STUDIO
Dries van Noten delivered yet another outstanding show last week, for AW16. He’s one of my favourite designers because he is both consistent, yet surprising. And I admire the way he runs his business. Here’s a ‘through the keyhole’ look at his studio and processes courtesy of The New York Times. Don’t miss the fabric archive…
5. MARGARET HOWELL X CANTON DENIM
The rigid, dark indigo jeans that Margaret Howell showed on her SS16 runway jumped out at me at the time. It turns out they’re part of a micro capsule collab with Japanese denim brand, Canton Overalls. It consists of a work wear jacket and jean for both the women’s and men’s MHL lines.
