When it comes to ad campaigns I’m a bit of a realist. I prefer the classic portrait shot to the bells and whistles fantasy arrangements. So I’m loving Steven Meisel’s Prada ss13 campaign – gold standard models (go Kirsten Owen!), wearable styling (even the fright-shoes look good) and a nice plain background. British Beauty Blogger is reporting on the Spring colours for Clinique’s Chubby Stick Shadow Tint For Eyes. The colours and formulations certainly look appealing (not enough people do cream shadows) but I’m most entranced by the campaign photos. How pretty! If they’re actually packaged like this, I think they’ll sell a ton more…
Filippa K is one of those labels that I see at press days but not really in shops. And as it’s pretty low key I don’t actively seek it out. But I love what I’ve seen for ss13, especially this softer version of an MA1 jacket with rose gold detailing, shown on Julia Stegner (one of my favourite models, look at that swanlike neck!). (more…)
I spotted this great portrait of Rifat Ozbek by Steven Meisel (above) in a book in the Gap store. The book is Individuals: Portraits from the Gap Collection and is currently going for a song on Amazon. The book is full of portraits by the likes of Herb Ritts, Annie Leibovitz, David Sims and Meisel and goes to show that Gap has been doing for years what lots of brands are only just doing now. That is, photographing interesting people in a way that represents their own style. (more…)
