THE DRG STYLE INDEX: OLYMPIA LE TAN, HARVEY NICHOLS, DOVER STREET MARKET, SOPHIA WEBSTER, BIRCHBOX
Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…
1) OLYMPIA LE-TAN’S DEBUT STORE
I just saw that Olympia Le-Tan has opened her first store in Paris. I love this girl. Everything from her book-shaped minaudieres to her RTW and even her Tumblr are beautifully executed. The store is located at Passage des Deux-Pavillons, just behind the Palais Royal and houses everything from clothes, to bags (of course), accessories and jewellery. Her dad Pierre Le-Tan designed the monogrammed wall coverings and Marc Newson designed some of the fittings. Next, a London space for 2015…
2) HARVEY NICHOLS’ ANTI-SCHMALTZ CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN
How do we feel about this year’s Harvey Nichols Christmas campaign video? Although I prefer it to all the schmaltzy ads, I don’t know if it’s a little too cheeky. The premise of #CouldIBeAnyClearer is to print your own cards using the accompanying app, that specify exactly what you want for Christmas. (And do please make it expensive and designer.) 3) DOVER STREET MARKET IS ON THE MOVE
Big news of the week: Dover Street Market is moving to Haymarket. Well of course it is! Always two steps ahead of the curve, Rei Kawakubo is moving the ten-year-old super-store to the building that used to house the Burberry HQ back when it was called ‘Burberry’s’. (The beautiful Burberry’s clock is still hanging outside.) Everything about this is genius…
4) SOPHIA WEBSTER: COLLABORATION QUEEN
Whoever is advising Sophia Webster on her collabs is doing a fine job. No ice cream or yogurt collaborations here, just clever, targeted hook-ups (often with a youthful beauty focus) such as the Sophia Webster for Birchbox beauty box…
