London loves: Sophie Hulme

Some lovely news for London retail. Sophie Hulme has just opened her boutique on Chiltern Street, joining Marylebone neighbours, Bella Freud, Mouki Mou, Cire Trudon, Trunk and Monocle Cafe (plus, Mr DRG’s fave haunt, John Simons). If you don’t know it, Chiltern Street is such a delightful shopping street, a block or two from Marylebone High Street, with a feeling of stumbling upon a secret discovery. Spooky! Quentin Jones’ window installation at Darkroom Store



Happy Halloween! Last week after a loooong day spent installing a giant-size scrapbook onto the walls of Blitz vintage department store in Hanbury Street, I headed to Lambs Conduit Street to check out another installation. Quentin Jones has turned the windows of the wonderful Darkroom concept store into ‘HAUNTED’, a witty, witchy 3-D assemblage featuring her signature photo-montage and moving image. (more…)



Lizzy Disney handbags



I really have no business lusting after handbags when I have more bags than I can possibly carry in this lifetime. But Lizzy Disney’s (great name!) envelope bags are worth getting in a tizzy about. I love their slim, angular proportions and rich neutral colour palette – black, camel, red. And each bag is hand made in this lovely leather that will age oh-so-beautifully. (more…)
