I always loved the work of Pierre Le-Tan, the illustrator who passed away last week, but I didn’t really know much about him. Menswear aw19 trend report



Prada AW19 menswear

Quite often the menswear shows give a peek into what the womenswear shows will look like. Even more so if you like your womenswear on the non froufrou side. So here’s a primer to myself on the menswear AW19 highlights so far. Valentino, Prada, and Jil Sander had the best knits, Vetements, the most interesting concept, and Dior and Raf Simons the best accessories.

Vetements was really interesting to me. A commentary on the dark web, the hoodie-balaclava hybrids were creepy but also symbolic of people wanting to withdraw into themselves. (more…)

Happy birthday Cy Twombly!

I’ve just been re-reading this old 032c article on a 1966 Vogue shoot featuring Cy Twombly’s sublime Italian palazzo apartment. Apparently the Vogue feature (shot by Horst.P.Horst) was later considered detrimental to his reputation, positioning him as ‘a decorator ‘ rather than a serious artist. While that’s rather farfetched, I can kind of see why in these Horst pictures; I wouldn’t say no to a Twombly-decorated house…. (more…)
