Cartier: Style and History at the Grand Palais

Jewelled cigarette cases, necessaires, cigarette cases, necessaires… Cartier could quite easily have staged its Cartier: Style and History exhibition at Paris’s Grand Palais around these stunning, opulent objects alone. A historic display of around 600 pieces, most from the Cartier archive, it comprises grand tiaras from the world’s royalty (both regal and Hollywood), epic jewels, and magical timepieces, alongside original sketches, plaster moulds, photos and ledgers. Lego’s customisable adult watches chime with the times

By accident or clever engineering, Lego’s latest offering is right in tune with fashion right now. Its line of adult watches marry poppy primary colours with playful graphics, plus the current obsession with all things customisable and hackable.

Head to the Lego Watch website and you can choose from a number of different styles with customisable straps and bezels. The links of the watches click in and out of place and can be changed to different colours, while silicone straps can also be added. (more…)

I’m a bit late with this but I’m assured it’s not all sold out. L.A. brand Joyrich has collaborated with creative polymath, Maripol on an exclusive line of kit that’s on sale at Machine A in London.

Maripol is well known for her era-defining Polaroids of Madonna, Keith Haring & co (I must get around to buying her brilliant book) as well as styling Madonna in the early days. (Yeah, Madonna had a stylist all along. I feel cheated.) (more…)

Blue Farrier gives Issa a new London-girl look

Wow, Issa, I hardly recognised you! The Issa pre-fall 2014 collection has landed and new creative director Blue Farrier has given it a polished, London-girl look. There are shades of Chloe in here with the poncho cuts and womanly romance (Farrier previously spent time at Chloe and Stella McCartney), plus great touches of whimsy like the Cecil Beaton-esque handwriting and a perfume bottle blouse print.
