THE DRG STYLE INDEX: MARC JACOBS BEAUTY, CHURCH’S, BURBERRY

It’s been a slow couple of weeks so the DRG STYLE INDEX has been on hiatus. But it’s back for 2016 – here’s the latest ranking of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…

1. MARC JACOBS BEAUTY IS COMING TO HARRODS

Only a few more weeks until we get an official London stockist for Marc Jacobs Beauty. Although the Marc Jacobs store in Mount Street has been selling it quietly since 2014, Harrods will be stocking it from next month. Hopefully that means it will be available online too. I’ve tried bits and pieces in the store and so far I like the formulations, packaging and branding a lot.

2. A NEW UK FACTORY FOR CHURCH’S SHOES

Great to hear that Church’s Shoes is bringing the manufacturing of its women’s shoes to the UK. Currently made in Italy, I’ve heard from store staff that a new Northampton factory is being built and that it will be branching into more leather accessories too. The Italian-made shoes are good, but British-made will mean they can use high quality British techniques like Goodyear welting.

3. THE BURBERRY RUCKSACKS HAVE LANDED

Any bets for the accessory of the season? My money’s on the Burberry nylon rucksack (with personalised initials obviously), as modelled by Misha Hart and seeded to worn by the likes of Taylor Swift. I really like the style of these, but only in the large size and not packed to the gills… (Buy it HERE.)
