Walkable heels: Louboutin’s Mistica

I wrote about walkable Loubutins last year for Lyst but had never been able to pin down Sofia Coppola’s exact model. (The press office deduced that these were an old style – typical.)  Instead, I’ve discovered the next best thing, the Mistica, which has a sensible 60mm heel and low cut toe box. Obviously, the flash of red on the sole is what gives these their va va voom. Without, it would leave a rather plain court shoe but I guess that’s the power of the Louboutin signature for you! Mistica is a great shoe for daytime power meetings if you want a bit of elevation but don’t have a Wintour-style town car at your disposal. I’d wear them with my Club Monaco 7/8th trousers and a 3.1 Phillip Lim blouse.

Alas, I can’t find these online in the UK (Louboutin’s ecomerce operation is in the planning stages) but you can buy from the US Louboutin site or from Harrods (£375).

Quote of the day

“An Irving Penn photo, an Ingmar Bergman movie, are timeless. It is about always being relevant, regardless of trends. It’s a search for universality—that’s the aim and that’s a huge one, but that’s the filter that we try to put everything through.”

McDowell invited Prada, Giorgio Armani, Salvatore Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni and Gucci to nominate the campaign images that meant most to them and explain some of the stories behind them.
