Valextra’s new direction with Alvaro Gonzalez



Valextra is about to get a whole lot more attention and I’m slightly torn. New design director Alvaro Gonzalez (previously at Jimmy Choo) has injected a glam fashion element to the Valextra SS14 offer with some shinier textures and softer shapes. Just look at the Trick Track in alligator below. I was always a fan of Valextra’s quiet modernist aesthetic so I’m hoping it won’t lose that, but I can’t deny that these bags are going to bring it more mainstream attention. (I have a hunch there will be more celebrity gifting too.)

Personalised fashion: the update



1 3X1-custom-jeans

So have you been wondering how my 3X1 custom jeans turned out? Well I hope you like details because there’s a lot to take in. After my appointment at Selfridges with the 3X1 team at the beginning of August in which they let me modify their W2 Boyfriend jean with my choice of denim, thread, pocket details, buttons and zips, I took delivery of the finished article four weeks later. Like my Smythson experience, the choice was quite overwhelming at the time but the results are nothing short of superb. (more…)
