Beauty bits: Aerin, BeautyMart, Into The Gloss, Chanel, Shu Uemura, By Terry, Teen Vogue, Dior Couture, confessions of a Photoshopper
First look at Aerin Lauder’s campaign imagery for the forthcoming AERIN beauty-slash-lifestyle line (ETA August/September). Very commercial but that’s entirely expected. For more sneak peeks, check out the AERIN site where you can view the product and read Aerin’s Goop-like musings on effortless entertaining and the like…
BeautyMart is hiring. The ‘edited beauty’ retail concept from Millie Kendal and Anna Marie Solowij opens at Harvey Nichols in August. We’re promised a new type of beauty store where individual products are stocked on merit, as opposed to entire make-up lines. Plus beauty vending machines. What fun! Apply here.
Karl Lagerfeld’s make-up collection for Shu Uemura (did you know he sketches his collections with Shu Uemura eye shadows “because they have the best colours?”) doesn’t land until October but the hype’s already building. First up, this adorable animation. I’m not a fan of everything Karl does but this is working for me…
This Karl sketch is pretty dreamy too…

Another beauty animation. This time for Lancôme’s Hypnôse Star Mascara featuring Daria Werbowy and Betty Boop. Playful and sophisticated. Nicely done, no?
Lots of people are very excited about the standalone Chanel beauty pop-up store coming to Covent Garden Piazza next week (opens Tuesday). Over five months, expect Chanel mime artists, make-up workshops, London’s first Chanel nail bar and more vending machines. I noticed yesterday that the signage is up already…
A lovely treat on Into The Gloss. Caroline Issa sharing her beauty routine and the contents of her bathroom cabinet…
More red lippage – something about this backstage Dior Couture photo is sweetly compelling…

Finally, a wee beauty review. I’ve been trialling By Terry’s Serum Terrybly Sunbooster for a few weeks now and I’m absolutely hooked on it. The problem is, I’m not 100% sure what it is. It’s billed as an alternative to chemical self-tanners, offering ‘3D hydration, a progressive tan and UV protection’. Skincare’s not my forte; I wish it could be described in plain language but I guess this is a gradual self-tanner type thing. I use a pea-sized blob of the gel morning and night and it feels lovely and light to use, smells faintly holidayish and isn’t sticky, gloopy or tingly. I wouldn’t say it makes me look like I have a tan, just nice and radiant, even if I’ve had a late night the night before. Typically, it’s not cheap (£65 at SpaceNK), but it’s one of the few expensive beauty products I’d consider paying full price for.

Lagerfeld sketched with Shu Uemura? Interesting marketing ploy…
