Buy it now: Cartier at Net-a-Porter
Even though I didn’t buy it myself (it was a gift about 20 years ago), my Cartier Panthère watch has been one of my most faithful style companions. With its steel bracelet, curved corners and discreet sapphire winding crown, it really is a go-anywhere watch.
Net-a-Porter has just announced it will stock Cartier watches permanently on the site, following an initial test phase last year. It’s ramping up its offer of fine jewellery and watch brands and to accompany the news, it has released a new Cartier campaign. If anything can entice you to splash that cash, this is it.
It’s got Giedre Dukauskaite* gadding about town in full Parisienne mode (*if you know my Insta, you’ll know I’m a Giedre fan); think tweedy boyfriend blazer, skinny sweater, trench-y outerwear, plus a cafe au lait al fresco. And to complete the picture, a perfectly positioned Cartier watch – take your pick from Tank, Ballon Bleu, Panthere or Baignoire – peeking from under the cuffs…

You know what, I loved the design of Tank when I was very young and since I’m thinking about a bit of a splurge for my birthday this year, it catches my eye. Not sure as I’ve never had such an expensive watch, but still, its design is perfect.

In my opinion it’s an incredibly timeless design. I always wear a watch, so if you’re also a regular watch-wearer, you could consider the cost-per-wear to justify the price? By the same token, I bought my Hermes Medor watch (the one with the big gold pyramids) about 13 years ago as a birthday present for myself and I’ve never regretted it. You definitely have to take your time thinking out it though! (let me know what you decide…)

I received a Cartier watch as a 21st Birthday gift . It remains my constant watch for years. You can never go wrong with this beautiful time piece !
