A Cartier Net-a-Porter pop-up shop is coming
Net-a-Porter’s quest to become a destination for luxury watches is getting a boost next week thanks to an exclusive online pop-up with Cartier. The newly relaunched Cartier Panthère watch (from £3,200) will go on sale at Net-a-Porter on May 2nd, (UPDATE: it’s arrived!) with twelve models as well as two limited edition styles including the very statementy rose gold and black lacquer version. The Cartier Net-a-Porter pop-up will be open from 2nd-31st May 2017.
I have a 1990s stainless steel version of this watch and can vouch for its utterly timeless and occasion-transcending qualities. I have worn mine with everything from a white tie gown (yep, I’ve been known to wear a gown) to swimwear (you can wear it in the sea). But I mostly wear it as an everyday watch with boy-cut pants, merino knits and tees.
Buy your Cartier Panthère watch HERE (drat, the £113,000 model has sold out).

Since it’s exactly identical to the original, which is beautiful, I’m having a hard time understanding all the hysteria over it? You can buy a very good used one for a fraction of the cost of the new one….??? But, I may be missing something, I often am.

I think there are some newer designs and I guess some people just like to buy new. Plus, from a purely commercial point of view, it’s an opportunity for a major media campaign by Cartier to reach the next generation. (I won’t use the word hype here but… don’t be surprised if you suddenly see Cartier messaging everywhere you look. I just noticed the ads in the June issues already!)
