Happy birthday Cy Twombly!
I’ve just been re-reading this old 032c article on a 1966 Vogue shoot featuring Cy Twombly’s sublime Italian palazzo apartment. Apparently the Vogue feature (shot by Horst.P.Horst) was later considered detrimental to his reputation, positioning him as ‘a decorator ‘ rather than a serious artist. While that’s rather farfetched, I can kind of see why in these Horst pictures; I wouldn’t say no to a Twombly-decorated house….
