If you’re in London for Frieze and need some zen time out from the frantic pace, here’s my tip. Go and chill at the Barbican.
The Noguchi show just opened two weeks ago at Barbican Centre and it’s a perfect stroll through the artist and designer’s timeline.
Isamu Noguchi was a sculptor and multidisciplinary designer, creating everything from theatre sets to kids’ playgrounds to furniture and of course, the now-classic Akari lighting. (more…)

I may be 3,000 miles away in a different time zone but I can still enjoy Salon 94’s Niki de Saint Phalle Joy Revolution exhibition.
Part of the just-opened Upper East Side Salon 94 gallery space, the show celebrates the ‘radical joy’ of Saint Phalle’s colourful multi-media work. Saint Phalle was known for her utopian feminist vision and interactive outdoor public sculptures. The website does the exhibition justice with some wonderfully uplifting drawings, paintings and sculptures. Joy revolution indeed. (more…)
I finally managed to get stuck into the Willi Smith community archive – part of the recent Cooper Hewitt Willi Smith: Street Couture exhibition – with its immersive oral history from friends and customers. It’s so brilliantly done, giving you a real sense of the designer, the man and his influence on his creative community. (more…)
