SS19 trend report: Baby bangs
Baby bangs are back! So sez the New York Times in its SS19 beauty trend report and Pinterest in its top 100 2019 trends round-up. Actually, I got on this one early but let’s not split hairs (lol).
Prada’s SS19 show completely nailed it with its Mia Farrow micro-fringed crops under giant hairbands (above and below), while Miu Miu followed suit with 90s Riot Grrrl choppy baby bangs tied up with a skinny bow (bottom).
I’ve been trying to grow my Cuts crop into something more mini-fringe-y, just because I noticed, as I get older and my face loses some of its fat, my features look more prominent and somewhat severe. A gamine mini fringe also draws attention to brows a la Audrey Hepburn, which can’t be a bad thing, right?
On which note, if you’re going to embrace an above-the-brows fringe, then your brows are going to be a focus. I’ve been growing mine out so they’re a bit fuller, but not too defined. I expect we’ll see another upswing in brow-centric beauty products; unbelievably I’ve yet to try Glossier Boy Brow because I’m wary of over-hypy products but I think now’s the time to investigate. Likewise, Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Brows. I usually use clear brow gel from Brow Cote or Smashbox (or the Giorgio Armani Eye and Brow Maestro if I have time), but if you have any other recs let me know…
