I’m currently trying to have a mammoth declutter. I’ve been in my house for eleven years and amassed a ton of stuff that I don’t really need or use. Admittedly, part of the appeal of going back to zero is the temptation to start acquiring things again. But useful things. Timeless things. Things like the kind of wares sold at Lennox & Harvey, a ‘contemporary general store’ just opened in Martha’s Vineyard.

For example, I suddenly need a Basshu patchwork quilt – practical, decorative and very well priced. (If you’re getting Ralph Lauren vibes, that’s no accident; co-founder Eric Coles, has worked as a casting director, photographer and photo producer for Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers and Club Monaco.) Not to mention a brass towel rail for when we renovate the bathroom. (A steal at $35 and brass will never date.) Then there’s the intriguing-sounding EIR Surf Mud ($24), a mask that combines sun-pro, antioxidants and cocoa butter for deep hydration. And even though he really doesn’t need any more pocket squares, these Kiriko Japanese handkerchiefs ($20) would be perfect for Mr DRG with their chic graphic prints that look like they’ll improve with age…
