1 Chanel autumn 15 makeup collection

A pumpkin orange eye shadow is my highlight from the new Chanel make-up collection. Well that’s definitely a first for me. But I’ll come to that in a bit. Let’s begin with the Chanel autumn 2015 makeup showpiece, which is the limited edition Entrelacs eye shadow palette (below, £46 buy HERE). This is heaven for someone like me who loves no-brainer neutrals. I have an excellent Bobbi Brown eye palette that I’ve used to death, but this is an update with the safe but delicious smoky browns and creamy beiges I love in matte and satin textures.

As Chanel does so well, these are embossed with designs inspired by the stained glass windows of Coco Chanel’s childhood (which also inspired the double Cs, – pay attention at the back, please!).

Next there are the Long-Lasting Eyeliners (£19, below, buy HERE) in four new shades. This to me is a classic autumn collection, extremely wearable with rich, warm colours. The twist is the slight golden-bronze hues, which you can see in the campaign imagery. I have three of the four shades. The one that’s missing is Ardent – a limited edition gold – but my favourite is Feuilles which is a super-dark forest green.

Also – how cool is this – I just discovered that these pencils have their own teeny tiny pencil sharpener in the lid, which you would never guess was there. Please take a moment to appreciate…

There are two new Illusion D’Ombre (£25) shades for autumn. This spongy cream is a great eye shadow formula and I’ve amazing myself by loving the orange. It’s called Rouge-Gorge (which I think needs to be pronounced with a French accent, not a Kate Moss Croydon twang) and it’s a stunner (buy it HERE). I wear it on its own as a subtle peachy wash blended over the lid, but of course you can wear it with other shades or with deeper intensity. Fleure de Pierre is a matte velvet black, a bit aging for me but the PR suggested trying just a bit on the outer corners of the eye (buy it HERE).

I love the versatility of the Les 4 Ombres palettes and this one in Tisse D’Automne (£40, buy it HERE) is as flattering as expected, with a dark matte moss green, coppery brown, khaki green with golden undertones (yum) and a peachy-beige highlighter. This is amazing for a khaki-greeny smoky eye. Next to the eye palette below is a powder blush (£31) in Alezane, a brownish pink (buy it HERE). It’s OK but a bit muted for me.

For lips and nails, it’s all very deep and glam. There are three new high shine nail shades (£18, below), all equally vampy. I have two; Châtaigne, a bitter chocolate (buy it HERE), and Écorce Sanguine, a deep scarlet red that Chanel describes as brick (this is limited edition, buy it HERE). The third, Vert Obscur is my favourite. I don’t have a sample but it’s a green-black with a hint of blue, think magical and witchy! (Buy it HERE.)

For lips, the sample I have is Rouge Coco Shine in Temeraire (£25, pictured top, buy it HERE) a grown up 90s wine-brick that reminds me of the supermodels’ obsession with a MAC Spice pencil. Rouge Coco Shine is my favourite Chanel lipstick texture, slightly iridescent and hydrating on the lips (although I wish they were a tiny bit more moisturising). I rarely (OK, never) wear dark lip shades but I like this one a lot.
