THE DRG STYLE INDEX: LA GARCONNE, HERMES, LONGCHAMP, SHINOLA

Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, featuring the brands currently buzzing on on my radar…

1. LA GARCONNE DOES BRICKS AND MORTAR

Somehow this passed me by, but one of my favourite etailers has gone over to the B&M side. La Garconne, the purveyor of perfectly judged boyish womenswear has opened a physical store in TriBeCa, selling its covetable mix of Margiela, Acne Studios and The Row. Message to La Garconne: London needs you!

2. THE HERMES FACTOR

This is a fascinating story about the luxury vintage market and Hermes handbags in particular. The whole story is gripping but there’s an interesting snippet that reveals that Christie’s is upping its high end fashion accessories focus. And why not, when the demand for vintage Hermes bags is seemingly insatiable?

3. LONGCHAMP’S LE PLIAGE GOES LUXE

Longchamp AW14 Pliage

One of my favourite bags just got an upgrade. The cleanly-designed Longchamp Le Pliage has now been fashioned into the Le Pliage Heritage, a posh leather version with the same minimalist proportions. Delivered for AW14, it will retail at £765, with a printed style (Le Pliage Heritage Luxe) selling for £1,200.

4. SHINOLA X OSCAR DE LA RENTA

Shinola-Ocsar-de-la-Renta

Watch brand Shinola is getting lots of attention lately. Here’s something I didn’t expect – a collaboration between Shinola and Oscar De La Renta. There are three watches launching in October, including this lattice number with 68 full-cut diamonds.
