Beauty bits: Tory Burch Beauty, Hermes perfumers, Cire Trudon, brow trends, Clarins, NARS
TORY BURCH BEAUTY IS GROWING
The Tory Burch empire continues to expand. This summer sees sixteen shades of lipstick added, an upgrade on the signature pinky nude shade. Also joining the Tory Burch Beauty family: a bath/shower gel, a body lotion and a body cream, all lightly infused with the citrus floral notes of the Tory Burch fragrance. Buy the lipsticks at the Tory Burch store in Bond Street and the body products at Harrods.
HERMES PERFUMERS LOVE BLOGGERS
How nice to see a luxury heritage brand saying nice things about bloggers for once. Here’s Hermes’ perfumers Jean-Claude Ellena and Christine Nagel discussing daytime scents, fragrance memories and perfume reviews. (Can I also just mention how much I’m loving Hermes Eau de Gentiane Blanche right now… earthy, green and musky – yum.)
CIRE TRUDON X GIAMBATTISTA VALLI
My scented candle of the moment is Cire Trudon’s Rose Poivree, one of two special collaborations with Giambattista Valli. I love rose scents anyway, but not cloying ones. This one hits the right notes of sweet rose with a fresh twist of pepper and base notes of musk and sandalwood. Buy it at Net-a-Porter.
SKINNY BROWS – INCOMING?
Uh oh, I’m very concerned that the 1970s-meets-early-90s brow might be on its way back. The fulsome bushy brow has reigned for several seasons in our consciousness, where else is it to go? And people are Instagramming pics like this one of 1990s-era Chloe Sevigny to further fuel my fear. Don’t do it kids…
CLARINS EASY SPF SPRAY
If you’re a fan of dry oils, here’s one to try for the summer. I’m currently using and loving Clarins Sun Care Oil Spray with SPF 30 (£19 for 150ml). What I like about this is it’s a complete no-brainer to use; it moisturises, gives sun protection, smells nice and summery (without overpowering) and doesn’t leave a greasy film. It’s super speedy to apply as it delivers a fine mist so doesn’t take forever to rub in, and being a clear oil, you don’t get left with that weird white residue. Buy it here.
3.1 PHILLIP LIM X NARS
3.1 Phillip Lim’s nail colours for NARS AW14 are a real treat if you like your nails at the moody, edgy end of the colour spectrum. There are eight limited edition high-shine shades with a ninth available exclusively at NARS boutiques and Narscosmetics.com – shades include inky greens and blues, a molten metallic gold and a deep, exotic red. As with everything ‘fall’ or ‘autumn’, they actually land on counter well before, on July 15th. I’m not sure if that’s just the U.S (I seem to be on an American mailing list) or worldwide, but keep your eyes peeled…
