Quote of the day: Larry David

Larry David GQ 2020 by JASON NOCITO

“I’m a total fraud. And the ‘Curb’ outlet for me is this guy I wanna be. He’s completely honest, just the opposite of who I am, and it’s a thrill.”

Who else is excited for the Larry David documentary on March 1st? Watch The Larry David Story trailer here.

UPDATE: It’s been postponed! (more…)

Quote of the day: Robin Birley on old money aesthetic

Robin Birley How to Spend It

“It’s like constantly having a little pebble in your shoe. If I’m having a conversation and I see a picture that isn’t hung right, I can’t focus. I’m desperate to go over and fix it. I’ve inherited that irritation, which is about not being happy until things are right.”

Quote of the day: Kate Pierson, The B-52’s on L.A. post-punk thrifting

The Go-Gos

“We were influenced by Diana Vreeland when she was the editor of Vogue in the ’60s. It was very futuristic and stylized. And I went from wearing no makeup at all to that black, punk, really heavy eyeliner. That cat eye. It was just a makeup extravaganza. Cheap, cheap make-up and Day-Glo clothes.”
Kate Pierson, The B-52’s, Harper’s Bazaar

Quote of the day: Jerry Hall on Fortnum & Mason

“I loved going shopping in London, like at Fortnum & Mason. They have these guys in uniform with white gloves there and they never rush you. They stand there forever. They’d say, “May I help you, ma’am?” and I’d say, “Mmm… maybe I’ll have this can of soup.” And they’d say, “Oh, that’s a lovely brand, ma’am—one of our most popular.” And they’d hold up the can of soup and follow you around for like an hour holding up cans of soup and boxes of biscuits and jars of all sorts of sauces… “And this one, ma’am, is so lovely with duck.” They’d go on and on. I couldn’t get over it.”

I’m loving this description of Jerry Hall cavorting round Fortnum’s. (more…)
