Positive fashion: recycled gold jewellery
Two sustainable jewellery brands on my radar; one high end and one more affordable.
I came across Lilian von Trapp’s discreet fine jewellery (above and below, from £310) last week at one of the SS19 press days. I love these super-fine recycled gold earrings that are stone-free but just as twinkly as the rarest diamonds.
You can wear one or two, or wear different sizes in each ear or different sizes in the same ear. The possibilities are endless but the result is understated and effortless. Each piece is handcrafted in Germany with 2% of proceeds going to Earthbeat Foundation to help counter the longterm damage of goldmining.
At the other end of the spectrum are Catch Rhys‘ new everyday stacking rings (below), earrings and pendant necklaces, handmade in England from recycled 9ct gold and sterling silver.
Catherine Rhys Jones’ pieces are sold directly to the customer to avoid retail markups, with prices from £25 for solid sterling silver hoop earrings that won’t turn your skin green…
