Eye candy for your lips
Lipstick boxes daubed with painterly flowers are a thing. I’m loving the look of this Rodin X Vanessa Traina collab, although I’ve never tried Rodin’s lip products. Are they good? I like the idea of the lip and cheek oils (below), which I imagine give a barely-there stain, and they’re packed with safflower seed and sunflower seed oils so even though it says it’s a matte finish, they shouldn’t be drying. Buy them at Liberty and The Line.
Although I do like a lip oil, nothing beats the old school application of a lipstick bullet. If you like Rodin’s lipsticks, they now have the Traina treatment with anemone watercolour renderings on the Lucite case – buy them here.
Meanwhile, on a similar packaging tip is this equally arty collab from Aerin and fashion designer Johanna Ortiz (below). This is the perfect trio of wearable lip shades – a nude, a spicy vermillion and a true red, boxed in illustrated prints taken from Ortiz’s fabric designs. (Plus, there are Aerin X Johanna Ortiz beauty bags to match). You might think an arty box is a bit pointless; doesn’t it get thrown away as soon as it’s opened? Hell, no. I would definitely carry the lipstick around in its box if it looked as fancy as this…
