Ilaria Icardi: fine jewellery for the sporty and rich generation
Continuing from last week’s jewellery post, I’m enjoying this less-is-more evolution of fine jewellery courtesy of Ilaria Icardi. The idea of wearing something super-refined with a normcore bodywarmer is very high-low me and also perfect for the sporty & rich generation.
Following a couple of decades designing RTW for the likes of Celine, Saint Laurent and Victoria Beckham, Icardi has gone back to her personal roots of jewellery design (her dad was a goldsmith creating pieces for Tiffany, Cartier and private clients). Her first two collections Series 01 and Series 02 combine dainty pearls and diamond pendants with chunky 18 karat gold chains and 70s-style rings all styled in this very contemporary casual way.
As she puts it, “I like the idea of collecting pieces that don’t really match and wearing them in quite an eclectic way. You have the piece of your grandmother, maybe you modify it, and you wear it with something new.” See more here.
