The Dior watch with a Raf Simons flavour
Is Raf Simon’s influence permeating the Dior watches line?
It’s not something that’s usually apparent, but the hyper-real colour palette of the AW15 collection does seem to have infiltrated these day and evening watches. I love the odd combo of electric blue and green, offset by the pink-tipped mother of pearl ‘skirt’ in the Dior VIII Grand Bal Plissé Soleil (below), and the intense blue dial and maroon alligator strap of the same watch encircled with a scattering of diamonds (above).
A little sportier is the Dior VIII Montaigne with its plum dial and matching plum calfskin strap lined with blue rubber (second from bottom). I don’t know, I just don’t expect to see such dark, macho colours on Dior’s women’s watches. But then a surprise is always good in this context, I think. (Interestingly, these colours tie in with the Dior AW15 make-up palette too. Hell, why not match everything?)
Perhaps the prettiest of all is the fabulously-named Dior VIII Grand Bal Cancan watch with its pink gold accents and feathered* dial, mismatched with the periwinkle alligator strap (bottom) – a steal at £41,150…
