Chanel Water-Fresh Complexion Touch

I’m so glad Chanel decided to continue with its Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint line. Since its launch in 2019, it’s become a summer sell-out and has now added two innovative new products to the line-up for barely-there make-up. The original Water-Fresh Tint foundation* is still available and amazing, with its ‘microfluidic’ oil-in-water-gel formula that smooshes into a delightful sheer veil of coverage.

To accompany it, there’s the new Water-Fresh Complexion Touch*, a weightless concealer-foundation hybrid (my shade is B40), and the Water-Fresh Blush* (below), a super-lightweight and sheer blusher.

Chanel Water Fresh Blush

Both new products are unique in their ultra-light and cool-to-apply formula, but the best part is the subtle finish. These are great for warm weather months when you want some coverage but don’t want to feel it. The formula is incredibly natural-looking yet long-wearing. Mine sits nicely on top of my mattifying Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield sunscreen* (no pilling) and the shade line-up (I use B40) is perfect. The Water-Fresh Complexion Touch comes with its own small brush, but I prefer to use a bigger brush with dense synthetic fibres – NVP’s Flat Angled Make-up Brush is an excellent foundation brush. Blusher-wise, I’ve been using the shade Light Peach*, which really is veil-like and gives the required ‘bonne mine’ effect, but I would happily to go to a deeper coral* too.

Another sheer, veil-like product getting positive reviews is the YSL Nu Bare Look Tint* that I wrote about last summer. It’s now in Boots and the usual places, and having trialled it briefly, I can say it’s another good option for the barely-there brigade. It’s more of a regular liquid foundation consistency than the Chanel and the shade range is fairly broad (I’m a 7).

I’ve been trying to do away with concealer while I’m using the Chanel Water-Fresh Complexion Touch. Since using the skincare recommended a few weeks ago by the Renude aesthetician, my skin has been in really good shape, but on the odd occasion I have a blemish, Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer Stick* is still the gold standard for me. I also have to rave about the Clé de Peau Beauté UV Protective Cream SPF 50*. It looks, smells and behaves like a beautiful luxury moisturiser – if only there was a tinted version.

My barely-there lip product of choice is still Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint* (with Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask* underneath). I haven’t found anything that beats it and I’ve noticed there’s now a vast range of shades.
