Blitz London launch party




I’ve been meaning to post these photos from the Blitz London launch for weeks. The store got the thumbs up from my fellow blogger attendees Discotheque Confusion, The Women’s Room and Bish Shops, who all agreed it was exciting, spacious and engaging. On my part, I enjoyed meeting the manager John Howlin, who immediately grabbed my vintage cheerleader’s jacket, studied the seams and proceeded to tell me its history. (more…)



New vintage store: Blitz London



Does London need another vintage store? Hell yes when it’s Blitz London, a new 5-room ‘vintage department store’ in Hanbury Street, E1. The press release promises all sorts of riches, including new stock every day, an in-store cafe, upcycled furniture, blogger-friendly ‘account managers’ and a mix of reasonably priced and rare vintage finds (hello Swatch watches). Vintage Festival 2011



I went to Vintage Festival yesterday and spent far too much time in the (free) Vintage Village snapping 1960s plan chests and dressing tables and not enough time in the main event. I have to say it was all excellently done. The Northern Soul music playing in the main hall set the tone beautifully while The Warehouse transported me straight back to the days of illegal warehouse raves in a haze of dry ice and nostalgia. Book now: Vintage at Southbank



As I have no trouble admitting, I don’t do festivals. Omnipresent mud, stinky toilets, itchy hair, overpriced veggie burgers, endless queues – all for the price of a week in Ibiza? No thanks. One person I know returned from Glastonbury with piles and a faceful of cold sores. How delightful. But Wayne Hemingway’s Vintage Festival promises to be a different sort of festival altogether; it’s in London for a start and on concrete. (more…)
