Quote of the day: Mindy Meissen
“Eventually, even the least with-it, most out of touch, willfully uncool parent is going to get a whiff of how culturally irrelevant these collabs have become. Even the most thunderstricken hypebeasts are going to look up from their rigorous collecting and say, “honestly, this is a bit much.””

I read the linked article and love Mindy’s writing. I could really spend a lot of time on Redef and don’t know whether to thank you for alerting me to it. I particularly enjoyed the Jezebel article on the Koons LV collaboration and not sure whether Koons is being intentionally ironic putting unobtainable images on bags that are unobtainable due to their price. Also thought the appropriating of “masters” etc has been the mainstay of tacky souvenirs for decades and that is what makes them fun.
I did enjoy the Uniqlo article particularly how it got it’s name. I love Uniqlo especially the Lemaire collaborations. I bought a bright orange skirt and top from the recent collaboration (and it was reduced) and wore it with coral and pink accessories to the Hirshhorn on Monday to see the YaYoi Kusama. So many comments even from the arty volunteers. Most had never heard of Uniqlo so it has a long way to go to push through.
