Here’s the latest weekly DRG STYLE INDEX ranking, a round-up of the brands currently buzzing on my radar…
1. HELMUT LANG PERFUME RETURNS
Woah, big story of the week for me is this one. Helmut Lang the original fragrance is back! And with the proto-minimalist packaging intact too. Not sure where we can buy it in the UK, but it’s being sold on the Helmut Lang US site right now.
2. LONGCHAMP LE PLIAGE: GOT THE BAG? NOW BUY THE BOOK
You know your product is a classic when Assouline publishes a whole book about it! Le Pliage by Longchamp is published by Assouline next month and delves into the heritage and success of the classic utilitarian bag. People say there’s no such thing as affordable luxury but I always feel the Le Pliage defines exactly that – a functional and keepable design that’s beautifully made.
3. GALLIANO THE CONCEPTUALIST?
John Galliano at Margiela – who’d have thunk it? But despite initial protestations from the MMM camp as the news was leaked, it seems the rumours have been confirmed. Not sure how this one will pan out, whether Galliano will go full-steam with his romantic vision or whether he’ll keep the conceptualist house codes intact. I’m looking forward to it though, welcome back Mr Galliano…
