What’s mine is yours
In our very modern gender neutral society it seems silly to segregate men’s and womenswear. Yes our bodies have their differences but it seems there are more similarities. When it comes to casual wear – knitwear, tees, bombers, hoodies, Rick Owens-y tunics and the like, I think we can agree it’s fair to share.
I have been the lucky recipient of more than one of D’s hand-me-down Margiela jumpers, and his New & Lingwood navy socks frequently end up in my sock drawer. Then there are the scarves. Oh, the scarves! It’s safe to say, D has this thing about beautifully printed textiles; his scarves even have their own dedicated chair-drobe.
And what about beauty and grooming products? D and I happily help ourselves to each other’s Aesop shampoo, Dr Sebagh High Maintenance Cream and Shu Uemura Shape Paste hair putty. But when it comes to toothpaste and bath stuff, we prefer to go our own way; he turns his nose up at my fancy orange blossom-flavoured toothpaste and I’m territorial about my Jo Malone bath oil. Maybe we do need some boundaries after all…

The correct balance of sharing and boundaries are what make up a loving, long-lasting relationship.

As we have 1 foot height difference, it’s unlikely to share actual items with my OH. But strangely, my taste is getting closer to his. Or, I’m stealing a lot from him.

Ha, same! I can’t understand why D doesn’t want to wear my size 8 jeans…?!

I often wear Mr TNMA’s jumpers and scarves, this week I bought a new (men’s) sweatshirt from Sunspel and for once the roles have been reversed. He’s been eyeing up my new purchase!

Ha! The women’s versions of menswear is never as good. I love the men’s Sunspel joggers but the women’s are cut in a more ‘fitted’ style when I want the ‘nerdy John Travolta on the track in Grease’ look…
