On trial: Topshop affordable matte lipsticks
Hey Topshop satin matte lipsticks, where have you been all my life? I’m late to this party but these affordable mattes are seriously superb. At £8 the formulations and shades feel and look beautiful and are streets ahead of most high street ranges.
With Rio Rio I think I’ve found my ideal matte red. It goes on smoothly and sinks in well to leave a stain without separating. After a while it does feel a little dry but not unbearably so. (My solution: I apply a little matte lip balm underneath and on top.) I also tried All About Me, a blue-toned Hollywood diva pink that I imagine would look amazing with minimal other makeup against an all-black outfit (Alaia-esque little black dress perhaps?).
The only downside with these bright mattes is I think you need blemish-free skin or immaculate foundation for them to work. But if you can get the base right, then these are definite keepers.
