Toga talk

Toga AW16 green dress

When people ask me my favourite designer label, my mind tends to go blank. Because ‘Celine’ or ‘Raf Simons’ or ‘Helmut Lang circa 1995’ is not very original and also because (shhhh, don’t tell), I hardly ever buy designer clothes these days.

But here’s a good one: Toga. I love Toga for its sweet spot between interesting and wearable, and dressy but not trussed up. The proportions are off-kilter (I’m very much feeling the voluminous sleeves), the quality is amazing for the price and I like that it’s not overexposed.

Toga is known for its cultish Toga Pulla shoes and brilliant knitwear. It’s designer Yasuko Furuta also makes the most wonderful mannish coats and deconstructed shirts. Her LFW shows are a highlight for the poetic layered styling and standout accessories. I could go on, but I’ll let Matches do the rest.

Toga AW16 is in the ‘coming soon’ section of Matches Fashion, so have a nose below (I’m especially partial to this little green number) …
