I like Francesco Russo, who Harvey Nichols is touting as “one of the most sensational shoe designers to emerge in a long time”. His leopard-print slingbacks and suede cutaway pumps have the kind of ruler-straight heel that I love, while the squat pumps are great for girls on the go. And I’m pleased to report, they all have lovely, wearable, single soles. As Russo puts it, “I’m more interested in finding the right proportions than to make shoes that look more like a vase than like shoes.”
