I wonder if there’s any correlation between the sales of uplifting-scented beauty products and those days when the date says ‘summer’ but the skies look like this…
I know I instinctively find myself reaching for the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Shimmering Body Oil /Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil/Nars Monoi Body Glow more when it’s cloudy than when it’s gloriously sunny. Bronze Goddess epitomises the clichéd sense of summer in a bottle. It’s fruity and floral with a hint of vanilla and coconut and somehow revives the spirits when you’re getting dressed to yet another 15 degrees-and-cloudy forecast.
In fact, this summer-focused fragranced line from Estee Lauder has become quite the cult sell-out, so in the absence of the scented body oil, there’s also an invigorating Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Exfoliating Body Cleanser (£30) and a heavenly scented Whipped Body Creme (£30). The good thing about all these is the scent does a great job of lingering throughout the day.
I’ve also been wearing my NARS Monoi Body Glow (£44) a lot this summer, a bronze-tinted coconut-infused oil with a hint of shimmer. Without a spray or dropper, it’s slightly messy to apply, but hey, that’s all part of the fun ritual, right?
And another excellent discovery is the antioxidant-packed Marula Oil Rare Oil Treatment (£33.95), a line by Paul Mitchell that’s mainly for hair. You can use it on the body as well though and it’s utterly delicious – a lush green-scented oil in sexy matte packaging with a glass dropper for easy application. Use it neat or add it to your body moisturiser.
