B is for bralette

bralette trend

I read recently that sales of soft triangular bras are way up while push-up, Wonderbra styles are so passe. This is my bra of choice, so that’s good news to me. Not long ago it was impossible to find decent triangle bras, but there’s now a lot more choice at every price point. (Side note: I didn’t know they were called ‘bralettes’.)

I don’t wear bras day-to-day (I prefer a Hanro 1601 camisole or HeatTech if it’s cold) but if I’m wearing a blouse or something dressy, I like COS or & Other Stories. COS  do subtly printed bras which give you just a bit of detail under a semi-sheer blouse. & Other Stories bras are a bit more decorative, so you’re not going to get a completely smooth line under your clothes. If money were no object I would splash out on Carine Gilson all the way, the cut and colour palette are impeccable.

Pinterest is a great place to find new lingerie brands. I discovered LA With Love on there, which is super-skimpy but very pretty (needless to say, these are for A-cups and under). I also like Base Range, very minimalist, functional but good quality smalls, made from organic cotton and bamboo jersey.
