Darling, it’s Lacroix!

Despite my minimalist leanings I can’t deny we’re heading for a maximalist revival. Vintage Versace’s all the rage, Prada’s ‘pop baroque’ curlicues are all over the shop and the return of Ab Fab means ‘darling, it’s Lacroix’ can once again be an acceptable exclamation. (more…)

JW Anderson x HERO

The new issue of HERO magazine is out, along with its new website. To celebrate, JW Anderson has designed a special limited edition dip-dye tee (only 30 available), with all profits going to Anderson’s chosen charity, Mind. (Note: the tees are made to order so delivery may take a few weeks.) Also, don’t miss the story on JW Anderson’s SS11 collection, including his thoughts on his design process and the business of fashion. It’s a gripping read.

Hot jean alert: J Brand’s Gigi

When I attended Net-a-Porter’s infamous Denim Boutique launch back in June, one of the nuggets of news I picked up was its prediction for the Next Big Jean Shape. Denim and casualwear buyer Ben Matthew’s description of J Brand’s Gigi was “a cropped kick flare that hits just above the ankle before flaring out slightly”, which I have to say, did not appeal. It sounded a bit too much like Celine’s icky, tricky flood-length pant to me.

But how wrong I was. Just launched, the J Brand Gigi is a mid-rise skinny cut with the weeniest hint of a flare. Really not ‘booty’ at all. And I can see it looking very uptown with my Rupert Sanderson nude patent Veritys (the only heels that I can walk in) or ancient vintage Charles Jourdan little black kitten heels – plus a little boy shirt and my black pebbled Chanel tote. Apparently there’s a waiting list already. Of course there is.

Call the fashion police!

A shocking spate of fashion robberies has hit London in the last couple of weeks with Luella, Christopher Kane and Brora all being burgled by moped-mounted mobsters within days of each other. The question is, who could possibly be responsible for these mysterious boutique break-ins? Let’s see… someone with a taste for sensible cashmere twinsets, avante-garde frocks and grandma-style handbags? Come out, come out wherever you are Miuccia Prada, the game’s up dear.
