Holland & Holland revamped
I’m all over this new Holland & Holland RTW collection, designed by Stella Tennant and Isabel Cawdor and set to be sold at Dover Street Market in September.
Holland & Holland is known for making guns (its discreet gun factory is round the corner from my house), but also tweedy tailored outfits of the plus fours and rugged shooting socks variety. Tennant and Cawdor have been hired to spruce up the offering and have created the most beautiful-looking knits, culottes and check trousers you can imagine.
According to the FT, they were chosen for their experience in the great outdoors, because they know and live this lifestyle. And also because Tennant is well known to the Wertheimer family (owners of Holland & Holland and majority shareholders of Chanel). As you’d expect then, the collection is expertly manufactured (and wincingly expensive), using Lovat and Hawick tweeds from Tennant’s local woollen mills and cashmere by Barrie, the Scottish knitwear brand also owned by Chanel.
If you buy British Vogue this month, look out for the shoot in there. It’s enough to have you packing your trunks for the Scottish Borders instantly…
