Beauty hero: Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss

Only one more sleep until the launch of what could possibly be my favourite beauty product of the year. The new Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss is a hybrid of lip gloss and lipstick and it’s absolutely faultless.

I tried it out a few weeks ago at an event in the summer and have since gone through virtually every one of the eleven shades. What I like is its versatility and finish. My favourite way to wear it is patted on over lip balm so you’re left with a shiny stain that doesn’t budge. My go-to is Affriolant, a fresh coral with a slight hint of shimmer. This is a really natural shade that lifts the face without feeling like you’re plastered in make up. In fact, most of the shades are similarly wearable although you can of course build the intensity for a bolder effect.

Another Rouge Allure Gloss USP: its moisturising properties come from a combo of sappan wood, matcha green tea butter and a vitamin E derivative so that you never get that parched-lip feeling, even hours later. Finally, the packaging is a replica of the Rouge Allure lipsticks, an opaque black case with a satisfying clicky mechanism that delivers just the right amount of product on a sponge-tipped wand in one click. As we all know, the packaging and ritual play an important part of the luxury beauty experience and in this case they definitely deliver.

Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss (£26) arrives on counter in the UK tomorrow. To accompany, there are also three new Rouge Allure lipstick shades (£26): Craquant (a wearable bubblegum pink), Foudroyante (chocolate with a hint of plummy shimmer), and Elegante (a deep, seductive blackcurrant), plus three nail colours (£18) and a lip pencil (17.50).
